If there were no rewards to reap, no loving embrace to see me through this tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. I'm gonna wait it out If there were no desire to heal The damaged and broken met along this tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. I still may. And I still may. Be patient. I must keep reminding myself of this...

People come up to me and say, "What's wrong?" "Nothing." "Well, it takes more energy to frown than it does to smile." "Yeah, you know it takes more energy to point that out than it does to leave me alone?" - Bill Hicks
Hey long time no blog eh?
I've been in a weird mood the entire month of February. My reading into the JFK assassination, and what i feel is an awakening as to how corrupt governments conduct business, and that it is no different than what i watch on the Sopranos. That realization has really made me into a very angry person. "What use to seem normal to me, all of a sudden is insane."
I mean i always have been a person with a lot of pent up anger, and i think that's why i'm so shy sometimes around people, because if i really said what was on my mind, i'd probably get punched in the mouth.
Especially all month long in February i've been rather angry. Seeing our media totally having a public orgasm over the whole Britney Spears spoiled brat drama, along with the whole Anna Nicole Smith bullshit.
AHHH!! Just blogging about here i can feel my blood boil, the fact that these two dip shits are even being covered on CNN day and night pisses me off to no fucking end. They have a channel on t.v. for this mindless moronic shit, it's called the E! Entertainment channel!!
I'm so fucking pissed at our new media. I really just wanna pull my hair out!
But with them being so obsessed with that shit has actually opened a whole new door for me. I've started watching a lot of cooking shows and travel shows. I use to be a headline news whore, i'd have it playing on t.v. in the background while i cleaned the house. Not anymore. I spent my mornings fighting sleep during the weekdays watching Food Network.
Along with the travel channels shows on Europe especially Italy, ah Italy next year i will see you! :-)
I've been cooking A LOT more than i use to, and i have discovered i really like cooking! It's actually very therapeutic for me, just like making espresso, it relaxes me.
I've gotten some positive responses from people who have ate my cooking. So far only 2 people, just like with my coffee i'm not that self confident with my cooking to have people like say my mother try it just yet. My chicken jambalaya so far has had the best "that's good shit" response.
My personal favorite was this meatball pizza i saw Rachel Ray cook, who i love, besides her little air head comments she makes sometimes, i love the stuff she cooks! It was awesome!! I've made pizza before and it has never really turned out very good, but this time i didn't have to roll out the dough with the flour on the counter or anything (i hate working with dough, i suck at it!) it was really easy and it tasted so fucking good!
I already have 3 of her cook books.
Another chef i like on Food Network is Tyler Florance. He has a recipe for enchiladas that i wanna try really bad, cuz instead of chili like my mom uses he uses salsa verde for the enchilada sauce.
So yeah, even though my anger level has been raised by the stupidity of our mainstream media, it's balanced out and soothed with cooking :-) So it all works out i guess, i watch less news, which is good for me. Watching too much of it makes me very angry.

"An attack upon the king is considered to be parricide against the state, and the jury and the witnesses, and even the judges, are the children. It is fit, on that account, that there should be a solemn pause before we rush to judgment." - Lord Chancellor Thomas Erskine in defense of James Hadfield, charged with the attempted assassination of King George III
I finished Jim Marrs "Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy" today. Without any doubt in my mind, the best, most compelling book i have ever read as of yet!! I'm left in aw!! Now i'm reading "Rush To Judgement" which was written in 1966, 3 years after the assassination and it questions the findings of The Warren Commissions "lone nut" conclusions that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
I just wanted to quote the last part of Jim Marrs final chapter "Conclusions", it really took the entire JFK assassination into some kind of perspective and was truly moving, i got teary eyed finishing the book. Now keep in mind that "Crossfire" was published in 1989, and it echos the events of our country today.
When i finished reading this final part of the book, I couldn't help but think about what Jack Ruby told Earl Warren, the chairman for the Warren Commission, when he was telling them his life was in danger,
"I tell you that... A whole new form of government is going to take over the country, and I know I won't live to see you another time"
And he didn't.
Here's Jim Marrs ending to his fantastic book "Crossfire":
"What then is the legacy of President John F. Kennedy? The fact is that we will never know. His presidency always will be remembered, not for what he did, but for what he might have done.
But it may be worth considering what kind of America we might have today if President Kennedy had lived. Imagine a United States if there had been no divisive Vietnam War, with its attendant demonstrations, riots, deaths, and loss of faith in government. There may not have been the scandals of Watergate, other political assassinations, or the Iran-Contra Pentagon-CIA attempt at a "secret government." Detente with Communist Russia and China might have come years earlier, saving hundreds of millions of wasted defense dollars - dollars that could have been put to use caring for the needy and cleaning up the environment. Picture a nation where no organized-crime syndicate gained control over such divergent areas of national life as drugs, gambling, labor unions, politicians, and even toxic waste disposal.
It is possible to consider that we might have a nation where peace and prosperity might have been achieved without the need for a massive military buildup, or that we might have experienced a kinder and gentler nation all along.
John F. Kennedy was no superman. Today there seems to be a movement to focus attention on the "morality" of his private life. But history will eventually record that Kennedy truly believed he had the best interests of his nation at heart. He wanted to lead America forward.
Kennedy was in the mold of Mikhail Gorbachev, complete with his own American brand of "glasnost," or openness with the public- but he was premature.
America- at least the backstage rulers of America- was not ready for such innovation. So they killed him.
In the 1960's, many young people sensed what was happening. They tried to warn of the sins of "Amerika." But most people- this author included- didn't listen to them, just as many reading these words won't listen now. In hindsight, they were right. But how many of us can admit we were wrong?
Members of Kennedy's inner circle also came to understand what had really happened. But this knowledge came too late. The proof had been taken up and they realized the extent of the power arrayed against them. Some kept their peace, some soon retired from government, and others left the country.
Robert Kennedy, too, came to understand the tremendous power behind the events in Dallas. On June 3, 1968, just two days before his own assassination, the younger Kennedy told close friends: "I now fully realize that only the powers of the presidency will reveal the secrets of my brother's death." He obviously had come to realize that the truth of John Kennedy's death could only come after he gained control over the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, and the Pentagon- all of which had become powers unto themselves.
But today all this is nothing new. We Americans have learned much about the connections of crime and spy agencies to the government and business communities in may cases such as Watergate, the John DeLorean affair, the Iran-Contra scandal, the assassination of Federal Judge John Wood and others.
The emperor has no clothes on- or in this case, American business and political emperors wear bloodstained clothing- but no one of any prominence wants to be the first to say so.
As we have seen, J. Edgar Hoover has experience in controlling major criminal investigations. By the 1960's, Hoover had undisputed power over the FBI and undue influence over government agencies. Lyndon B. Johnson had long since perfected the art of using federal bureaucracy to block and impede investigations into his dealings. And this time there were plenty of people willing to go along with them- people who wanted Kennedy out of the way.
Camelot was killed from within, by men whose fear and ambition overpowered their faith and loyalty to the United States Constitution and the people it was designed to protect.
An apt precedent for the Kennedy assassination can be found in William Shakespeare's immortal Julius Caesar, where Roman leaders- "all honorable men"- plotted to kill Caesar out of fear that they were losing total power in their country. Brutus defended his participation by explaining: "Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more." Or to paraphrase the American officer in Vietnam who defended the destruction of a village: "In order to save the country, they had to destroy it."
The Kennedy assassination was a true coup d'etat- a sudden and violent shift in power to the right of this country. And that power- though weakened by revelations of corruption and unachieved goals- remains with us today.
Few people have shown a willingness to confront and accuse this power. But until the people of the United States confront the reality of Kennedy's death and face the power behind it, the wars, near-wars, the wasteful military buildup, foreign adventurism, death, squandered millions, trampled human rights, moral decline, and environmental pollution will continue.
The way to this confrontation lies within each individual citizen- in our minds and- perhaps more important- in our hearts.
One can almost hear the sad spirit of John F. Kennedy whispering from Dealey Plaze:
Et tu, Lyndon?"

Wow today....er, i mean yesterday was really an exciting day for me. Got my tax refund and a whole bunch of my coffee stuff got delivered today.
Last week i ordered Intelligentsia's "Rosters Choice" pack. It's a sweet package, you get 3 one pound bags of hand picked coffees by Intelligentsia's Director of Coffee, every month for 4 months, with your first shipment you get your first months bags of coffees, a french press, a coffee mug, a binder with "how to" cupping instructions, detailed notes of the origin of the coffee and the coffee farmers, and cupping notes on each bag of coffee you have been sent. I love it already! The coffee came in this cool wood container, and instead of using those packaging styrofoam nuts, they used the coffee bags they receive their coffee in, which i thought was really cool.
I thought there was more stuff in the box and i kept pulling out all of the coffee bags in the box, and green unroasted coffee beans that were loose in the bags went all over our kitchen floor.
Plus i also received my new syrups i ordered last week too. The bottles are huge, i didn't expect them to be as big as they are! I definitely won't be running out of those flavors of syrups anytime soon. My old bottles of syrups look so tiny compared to the Torani ones i ordered, they are like cafe size bottles!
I already love Intelligentsia's coffee, i pulled some shots tonight and the crema i got was awesome, and i actually pulled my first perfect shot! I was pretty pleased with myself.
So now i ordered some much needed cleaning supplies for my espresso machine, i think it already needs a good cleaning, especially the steam wand. I also ordered a latte art pitcher, a latter art video, some big ass cappuccino cups and about 6 or 7 more bottles of Da Vinci syrups. I really don't know where i'm gonna put all these syrups, i'm gonna have to do some major rearranging in our kitchen later today.
It's kinda cool though, our kitchen is slowing looking like a cafe!!
Oh yeah, and FINALLY i got to order my Ghirardelli chocolate sauces. 2 one gallon jugs of chocolate and white chocolate. I almost got the caramel sauce too but decided i could just go to Tony's Meats or somewhere if i really wanted good caramel sauce.
Ah!!! I'm in barista heaven!!

"Amused To Death" By Roger Waters
Doctor Doctor what is wrong with me
This supermarket life is getting long
What is the heart life of a colour TV
What is the shelf life of a teenage queen
Ooh western woman
Ooh western girl
News hound sniffs the air
When Jessica Hahn goes down
He latches on to that symbol
Of detachment
Attracted by the peeling away of feeling
The celebrity of the abused shell the belle
Ooh western woman
Ooh western girl
And the children of Melrose
Strut their stuff
Is absolute zero cold enough
And out in the valley warm and clean
The little ones sit by their TV screens
No thoughts to think
No tears to cry
All sucked dry
Down to the very last breath
Bartender what is wrong with me
Why am I so out of breath
The captain said excuse me ma'am
This species has amused itself to death
Amused itself to death
Amused itself to death
We watched the tragedy unfold
We did as we were told
We bought and sold
It was the greatest show on earth
But then it was over
We ohhed and aahed
We drove our racing cars
We ate our last few jars of caviar
And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah
And when they found our shadows
Grouped around the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data on their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry no feelings left
This species has amused itself to death

Paint It Black
Fuck yeah! 2 weeks after getting my espresso machine, and today is the first day i truely made professional style micro foam for latte art! There's my drink, see the shiny texture of the micro foam, and of coarse my "spilled paint". It looks more like a real bushy tree rather than a rosetta leaf.
That's awesome though, i'm getting so happy with myself.
The only thing that's killing is i'm finding it IMPOSABLE to find any store around here that has syrups, that are not the flavors:
Vanilla
Caramel
Hazelnut
Amaretto
Raspberry
Jesus fucking christ! Justin bought me Almond Crunch and Toasted Marshmallow, thank god too because i was going crazy using the same flavors.
Not only that but it's almost imposable to find any sort of chocolate sauce that isn't Hershey, Dove, or Smuckers, and the Dove chocolate that i've been using is still bottled by Smuckers.
I really want to use Ghilardelli chocolate, but i'm finding that you have to get that on line too. And until i get my tax refund i'm pretty limited on my spending for espresso shit. I was gonna get on line and look to see if there are any Godiva shops around here, maybe they'll carry chocolate sauce.
Jesus what a fucked up thing to try to find and finding it's imposable to find it!! It's just chocolate sauce!
Well i guess when you want really good chocolate that makes it more challenging.
I'm really happy i made micro foam, that fucking kicks ass!! The whole process i'm finding i actually prefer, because the way you hold the pitcher is definitely a lot more comfortable.
Nice!! :-)
...... HOLY FUCK!! I was just checking my blog to see how the picture looked, and i'm all staring at the picture and i just realized, i think i made a poorly shaped Apple!!!
Ah, i'm freaking out, i think i just made an apple, a shitty apple but hey!!! COOOOLLL!!! :-D

And The Truth Shall Set You Free...
WOW!! For the past two weeks or so when i haven't been making espresso, i've been completely and totally wrapped up in "Crossfire: The Men Who Killed Kennedy".
Kind of obsessed is a better way to put it. It fucking sucks you in man! I mean i always found the JFK assassination to be completely and totally fascinating in all since of the term.
But i'm reading shit and seeing shit, i hadn't heard before! It's almost like reading fiction, but then you have to shake yourself and realize, this is real history... THIS SHIT HAPPENED!!
I became so curious and so just wanted to see these photos and videos Jim Marrs talks about in the book, that are made public for all of us to see by the way,(from what they have released, a lot of it is still locked away not to be made public till 2029) that yesterday and the day before i watched "The Men Who Killed Kennedy" a six part documentary on the JFK assassination on Google Video.
MY GOD!!! it's fucking CRAZY!!!! Jesus, if you've never seen it, i highly recommend watching it some day (get some popcorn, it's a six part series, each part being about an hour and a half long, but its RIVETING!!). A lot of the witnesses who were in Dealey Plaza that day, they interview, which is really cool cuz this was made in 1988, a lot of the witnesses are dead today. They talked to the doctors at Parkland Hospital from the Governor Connally who was in the motorcade with Kennedy and also got shot.
And the craziest witness i think, is Ed Hoffman. A deaf mute who saw the assassin behind the picket fence, he said dressed up as a policeman, calming walked away from the fence with a rifle, he took apart his rifle and put it in a toolbox that a railroad worker had that was with the police officer, then calmly walked towards the railroad tracks!!!
And Ed Hoffman ran to tell someone what he saw after he saw the presidential motorcade drive by with the president's head blown off. And the FBI couldn't understand him and pushed him off because Ed Hoffman is a deaf mute!!! And he didn't come out for a long time because a man claiming to be with the FBI told him if he told anyone,"he might land up getting killed."
Then there was another witness who was right in front of the fence where the police officer would have been, Gordan Arnold. He said he was walking behind the wooden picket fence when a man approached him claiming to be Secret Service, telling him he couldn't stay behind the fence. So Gordan Arnold went around, then moments later he said shots came from behind the fence, and with him being a GI having been around gun fire, hit the ground and heard two more shots and didn't get up until a police officer was kicking him to get up. He did have a video camera with him and was filming when the shots were fired. Another police officer came up waving a gun and crying, then the other police officer asked him for his film, so he gave the camera to him, he took out the film and gave back the camera. After that Gordan Arnold ran to his car, drove out of the parking lot unchallenged, and two days later he reported for duty in Fort Wainwright, Alaska and didn't return to Dallas for several years. So no one ever really knew he was there, until the Mary Mooreman photo was able to be blown up, and photo experts were able to identify a man in a GI uniform standing in front of the fence.
With the Jim Marrs book and the documentary "The Men Who Killed Kennedy", the JFK assassination has taken a hold of me! WOW! It's just so crazy the six degrees of separation between everyone involved in the assassination, everyone is connected somehow even going as far as the witnesses who were at Dealey Plaza!
The Babushka Lady, many years later to be identified as Beverly Oliver, who was standing right by the presidential motorcade right at the third and fatal "head" shot to Kennedy. Turns out she was friends with Jack Ruby, the man who shot Lee Harvey Oswald.
And really going into the life of Lee Harvey Oswald is amazing all in it's own. The way the Warren Commission painted him, was a crazy pro-communist lone nut. When in reality he was a marine who was under orders, following orders and just wanted to be a good marine.
Jim Garrison, the New Orleans DA who had the one and only trial on the JFK assassination, said that what the government did to Lee Harvey Oswald is one of the greatest injustices to ever happen in the United States of America.
Really the only reason i'm writing in here right now is because i need to take a break reading "Crossfire". Geez, this shit will make you go crazy if you keep looking into it and thinking it over.
The picture above, The Mooreman photo, taken by Mary Mooreman who was the closest to the shooting, is one of the most famous photos in the JFK assassination. Photo experts have blown up the picture and in the background by the picket fence you can see a police officer with a puff of smoke in front of his face, this man was named Badgeman, who researchers believe was the assassin on the grassy knoll who fired the fatal head shot, and forever changed history.
CRAZY!!!

It's all good...
Well, day 3 of my self barista training and i feel awesome!! Practice, practice, practice is the key i'm learning. Last night after dinner i made (or i should say attempted to make) Justin a mocha and i made me a Snickers Latte. The mocha sucked ass, i really need to use my measuring cups more. I just read this morning that i really haven't been using enough syrup, i've just been using a tablespoon cuz that's what it says on the bottle.
Anyway, when i made my Snickers Latte, i actually frothed awesome foam! The last 2 days i've really been struggling with the foaming of the milk process, but last night i got perfect foam! I was so happy i was fucking cheering in the kitchen! :-P
As for the shots i'm pulling that's another problem i'm gonna have to wait to deal with. My machine comes with these pressurized filter baskets for my portafilter, which is suppose to help get a lot of crema without the worry of how you tamp or the fine ground of the coffee.
But for a barista, that's throwing away the entire art of making espresso!!
The four M's for making perfect espresso are:
La Macchina (The Machine)
La Micselsa (The Coffee Blend)
Il Machindosatore (The Grinding)
La Mano (The Hand)
So really these pressurized filter baskets are an enemy to an aspiring barista like myself.
But yesterday i did get my double non pressurized filter basket, but i can't use it yet :-(
I don't have my tamper. I ordered it this morning, along with a knockbox which i need SO BAD!
So who knows when that'll come, but when it does i can really start to practice making better shots.
I think half the problem of my situation right now with my shitty shots is, i'm using Lavazza preground coffee that came free with my machine, and i'm also using Silver Canyon coffee that has been sitting in our cabinet for like 2 months, and not to mention i'm being forced to tamp with the shitty built in tamper on my machine that is useless.
And i refuse to buy really good coffee like from Intelligentsia or Counter Culture until i get my tamper. In the meantime i'll use Mile High Coffee's espresso blends and maybe even Novo's espresso blends.
Anyhow, for once in a long long time i'm just feeling total peace with everything in my life.
For once everything feels good. With me, paranoid fucker that i am, it feels nice to just sit back and take a deep breath and realize that my life right now, at this point, everything is Perfect.
It's a wonderful feeling.
Work doesn't bother me all that much anymore, it's actually been quite enjoyable lately. I've trained myself to just kind of ignore and accept Eileen's paranoid ramblings about our co-workers she doesn't like.
When i run out of stuff to do at work (which happens a lot) i've been forcing myself to stay busy instead of just picking up my "Crossfire The Plot That Killed Kennedy" book.
Although a good majority of that book i've read while at work :-P

Holy Fuck!!!
I just pulled a shot!!! I just pulled a shot!!!!
Wow, i'm freaking out, i got my espresso machine today! (i really got in on Tuesday, but let's not go into that wretched story for now)
I'm so excited i just made a vanilla latte and a Caramellow!!! It's so fun, i love, i love it, i love it!!!
It's a very messy process, but i am a beginner and it took me on the second try when i made the Caramellow that i started to get the know the process. I could already tell on my first try that i desperately need a tamper and a knockbox, that'll cut down the messiness a little.
Ahhh!! I can't believe i finally have my machine, now i will never sleep again!! Hee, hee :-)

Starbucks plans to ban trans fats
I dunno about this whole banning trans fat thing. I know it's being done with all good intentions being that we are the most fattest country in the world but i somehow can't get past the feeling that it's intrusive on our civil liberties. It's kinda like smoking, we know it's bad but it's our god damn right if we choose to smoke anyway.
And with Starbucks banning trans fats in their food is kind of ironic being that food isn't their #1 selling item, it's their lattes and frappuccinos that are the biggest selling items and they are the most fattening coffee drinks in the industry.
Big Brother is watching you.

"It was so real,
Like I woke up in Wonderland.
All sorta terrifying
I don't wanna be all alone
While I tell this story.
And can anyone tell me why
Y'all sound like Peanuts parents?
Will I ever be coming down?
This is so real
Finally, it's my lucky day
See, my heart is racing
'Cause this shit never happens to me
I can't breathe right now!"
-Tool 'Rosetta Stoned'
Well this will probably be my last entry for the year of 2006. And of coarse we always look upon a new year with optimism and new beginnings.
I am doing that myself as well. Well the last entry i had written in here before i deleted it just now was about my purchasing the Rancilio Silvia espresso machine along with the Solis Miestro Plus grinder, along with some cappuccino cups, a frothing pitcher and thermometer and an extra La Marzocco filter basket.
But later on that day after i had ordered it and wrote on here all gleefully about my purchase, the salesperson from the site i bought the machine on called me to tell me the Solis Miestro Plus grinder that came with the package i had ordered was sold out. So he would replace it with the Baratza Vertuoso grinder with no extra charge.
So the very next day i get an e-mail from the same guy telling me that the Rancilio Silvia espresso machine is COMPLETELY sold out in all of North America and they didn't expect to get more in for another month.
So i had him cancel my order.
So i did more research on CoffeeGeek.com (the mega site for consumer reviews on all coffee related products) and decided on the Solis Crema SL 70 machine along side with the Baratza Vertuoso grinder.
The next day i call the sales person from the site to cancel the tamper i had ordered with my machine and the grinder because i found out i ordered the wrong size tamper. So the chick over the phone is looking over my order and finds out the Solis Crema SL 70 is backstocked too and they didn't know when they'd get more in.
DAMNIT!! Strike two! So i cancel my espresso machine order with them but keep the order for the grinder.
So i go on Amazon.com to look up my Solis espresso machine, i really had my heart set on it now cuz it was voted best budget machine for 2006 on CoffeeGeek.com. Anyhow, so i find it on Amazon.com selling it through a private seller.
So i place my order. The very next day i find out from the seller that the Solis is sold out with them too!!
AGGGHHH!!! So I go back to CoffeeGeek.com and look at where they had recommended you buy it. So they point me in the direction of SeattleCoffeeGear.com and i find my Solis machine and place ANOTHER order with them. This time i did it at around 11 o'clock at night and the customer service line was closed for the night.
The next morning i call up the customer service line and ask them to look to see if the Solis Crema SL 70 is in stock. Sure enough, it was out of stock. So they guy over the phone offered to sell me the up graded version of the Solis Crema SL 70, the Solis Crema SL 90 (which i made sure they look to see if it was in fact in stock) and he offered to sell it to me at a discounted price.
Fuck yeah!!
So it ships on Tuesday. Probably won't get it for a week or two cuz since i spent so much (about $419) the shipping was free.
The Solis Crema SL 90 comes with a free can of Lavazza coffee (which is real cool, its coffee imported from Italy, very popular in Italy and "Coffee Angels" on Wadsworth uses Lavazza coffee, very good coffee), a frothing pitcher, a thermometer, and espresso machine cleaner all for free. Pretty cool!
My grinder was supposed to ship a few days ago, but it hasn't yet. So on Monday i'll check my status on the site and if it isn't ready to ship yet i'm just going to cancel the order and go get a burr grinder from Starbucks. The Starbucks burr grinder is actually the Solis grinder i had wanted at first to pair up with the Rancilio Silvia. Starbucks just renamed to grinder to "Starbucks Barista".
I dunno we'll see. I'm pretty excited about it though. I'm finally getting my machine! It may not be the Silvia, the one i had my heart set on but this one i got sounds really cool. It's pretty much an automatic machine, the only thing i don't like is the portafilter basket size is really small, it's 53 mm when the average size for a portafilter basket on any other espresso machine is 58 mm.
Oh well, beggars can't be choosers i guess.

Oh my god! I have just discovered the greatest news i have heard in a while!
Maynard's wine is now available to order on line! Apparently it's been available to order on line since November 13th.
DAMNIT!! I wish i would of found out about this then! He had 3 of his very first wines available for sale and now 2 of them are sold out and now the $88 wine is the only one still available!
SHIT!! Why the fuck does it have to be the holidays, other wise i'd buy it!
Ahhh!!

It Tickled Me Pink....
So this week Justin has been on vacation, which has been nice having at home so much. He's been getting in a lot of poker time on line while Adara watches her cartoons in the mornings and i sleep.
But this week i've involved Justin in on my "Coffee House Hunting."
I've been mapping out all the different coffee houses around the city and going to em. Just yesterday i stumbled across a website called Delocator.net and you type in your area code and it pulls up all the addresses and phone numbers of all the independent coffee houses around you.
Last night we tried to find two i found on that site that are in Old Littleton but Justin's food was getting cold and we were kind of having trouble finding them so we just went to Sister's Espresso instead. Sure enough though we spotting the place when we were leaving, it's right by the light rail station, and it's called Romancing The Bean. Apparently the building has been there for 130 years. Today i'll probably venture out there and try their coffee.
Yesterday i went to Blueberries Cafe coffee up the street from old Littleton too while Justin was napping. It was good, i had a French Vanilla Mocha.
But what i'm really most excited about was earlier in the week when we ventured out to Stellas CoffeeHaus. The barista there gave me my latte with a rosetta leaf at the top!!
For those who don't know a rosetta leaf (displayed above) is a form of latte art!!
I was so tickled pink that i got to see my first latte art!! It wasn't as good as the picture about, but shit man i admire the barista for at least giving it some effort, latte art is hard to do.
Calder's Coffee in Littleton does latte art too, i've only been there once and didn't get to have any art on top on my coffee.
My boss is on vacation next week so i'll be really tired all week long, but on my day off i'm going to go out to CapuVino Coffee and Wine. Apparently it's a coffee AND wine place!

JFK Speech on Secret Societies and Freedom of the Press
43 years ago tomorrow will be the anniversary of when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas in front of the whole world.
This speech in particular is very telling for what a gigantic loss we all as Americans should feel. Kennedy in my opinion was our last great president.
He moved to abolish The Federal Reserve which is at the heart of the problems in America today. Kennedy signed a not very well known Executive Order, no 11110 in June of 1963, four months before the assassination (also, click here to read ALL Executive Orders JFK wrote throughout his Presidency, ordered by numbers). This Order returned to the Government the power to issue currency, without going through the Federal Reserve Bank. Kennedy gave the Treasury the power to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury. In plain language this means that for every ounce of silver in the US Treasury vault, the government could introduce new money into circulation. JFK brought nearly $4.3 billion U.S. notes into circulation. So by signing this Executive Order, he was about to put the Federal Reserve Bank (and with them all the International Bankers) out of business. The Federal Reserve Notes would eventually not be in demand anymore, and by doing so, Mr. Kennedy probably also signed his own death warrant. Executive Order 11110 gave the U.S. the ability to create its own money backed up by silver.
Another thing Kennedy wanted to do was to re-organize the CIA from within, because he considered the Agency being a Government within the Government, with too much power. Allen Dulles, who was the head of the CIA at the time did not like the idea of course, and this alone could have been the reason for the assassination.
But for more on different theories (and no they are not 'conspiracy theories') tune into Coast To Coast tomorrow night for a round table discussion about the JFK assassination. My boy Jim Marrs will be on of coarse, he wrote the famous book, "Crossfire" which Oliver Stone's movie "JFK" was based on.
It's a day of mourning for all patriots who love America and the Bill Of Rights, John Kennedy, had he lived, would of changed our country for the better. Listening to this speech and looking at the government we have today, and governments we have around the world, brings me to tears frankly.

My Bad Ass Mother FuckerSo after long research on line and much thought over the situation i have finally decided on what espresso machine and grinder i'm going to buy when i get my tax refund. The Rancilio Silvia espresso machine paired with the Rancilio Rocky doserless grinder. (Both the Rancilio Silvia espresso machine and the Rancilio Rocky grinder pictured above.) Both of these pared up will run me a cool $800. Yeah, that aspect of it sucks, and that's initially why i first decided i couldn't afford it. But after a lot of reading on CoffeeGeek.com and other coffee sites, The Rancilio Silvia is THE best consumer espresso machine you can buy for your home under $700, and it has a cult like following. From what i've read on line its a machine that's perfect for people who want to learn cafe style barista skills which is exactly what i want. I have come across some great deals on 3 different sites with the Silvia where for the same price of $800 you get the machine, the Rocky grinder, a tamper, a knockbox, frothing pitcher, and espresso cups with saucers. This one site though i found replaces the Silvia filter basket with a La Marzocco filter basket, which made my mouth water! I dunno we'll see when i actually have the $800 to really decide what package i wanna go with.
I've found some really great deals with the Rancilio Silvia. I can't wait, even when i fuck up my espresso drinks i think it's still gonna be fun to learn! :-)
From the looks of it, my espresso machine and grinder will take up a lot of our kitchen counter space, but at this point i don't care!
I came across another great little (and when i say little, i mean literally LITTLE!) coffee shop on my way to my doctors this morning.
It's right by the Conoco on Morrison Rd, and Bear Creek Blvd. It's a TINY coffee shop named "Simply The Best Coffee". I was pretty impressed. They had a La Marzocco espresso machine, a tiny one, i think it's the machine CoffeeKid did a story about that is actually a home machine. Anyway, i had a Caramel Locha and it was awesome!! They use Silver Canyon beans which is roasted here in Colorado. We sell Silver Canyon at Safeway so i was kind of pleasantly surprised to see they use those beans.
This coffee shop was really tiny, i mean you walk in and to your left is one table with 2 chairs and right in front of you is the cash register, the barista and the god machine, the La Marzocco. And above the cash register is a chalk board of the menu. Apparently they sell breakfast burritos too. Which is kind of funny cuz Sisters Espresso in Old Littleton sold breakfast burritos too.
It was a pleasant surprise to discover, i'll definitely be going back to that little coffee shop when i'm in that area of town again :-)

I'm not a Starbucks hater in the least, but the more i read about how unfair coffee farmers are treated and how they get pennies for their coffee while we spend $4 on a latte. Not to mention spend thousands on espresso machines and coffee grinders.
Now i read this about Starbucks and the Ethiopian coffee farmers and i can't help but get pissed.
I just bought my first bag of Fair Trade Coffee today too from Mile High Coffee :)
(yeah, pat myself on the back!)

President Bush leads me to great coffee....
So over the weekend i heard in the news Bush was in town and did his weekly radio address from a local coffee house.
So right away my interest peaked, and i searched the web to find this coffee house Bush was at.
Cuz shit if the president of the united states goes to this coffee house, they have to have great coffee.
The coffee house was a little place called,"Mile High Coffee". Googleing the name also lead me to a very useful Denver Blogger called "Mile High Buzz" which is a blog completely dedicated to writing about all the Denver area coffee houses. To me this blog is really a treasure chest cuz i've been dying to visit some local coffee houses.
Last week i stopped by "Sisters Espresso" in Old Littleton, i was in the neighborhood cuz i had to take my UA. I remembered seeing the place last time i took my UA, so this time after i was done i stopped by.
I loved the atmosphere of the place, it really reminded me of a coffee house we went to in Amsterdam, the only difference being is of coarse they don't sell pot. The coffee (especially compaired to the coffee i got today at Mile High Coffee) was so-so, but the purple house they're running their coffee house out of i fell in love with! For one, i love the old houses in Old Littleton to begin with, so running a coffee house out of one of em really impressed me and brought back memories of Amsterdam.
Anyhow, over the weekend i looked over this blog "Mile High Buzz" and looked over all the coffee houses they have listed and sure enough, "Sisters Espresso" was listed on there. Some of the people who commented about that place didn't have too many kind things to say about it.
I didn't have a bad experience when i went there, i even bought Adara one of their cookies. But from some of the comments apparently the girls that own it are kind of mean. I dunno i talked to one of em and she was nice to me, but i just bought my coffee and Adara's cookie and left.
I found some gems on this blog though. I discovered a coffee house down the street from my DUI/DWAI classes that teaches barista classes and Coffee 101 classes. They also do latte art there as well, which tickled me pink. Calder's Coffee is the name of it, and from what the other bloggers said they have really good espresso. So i'm excited about going there on Thursday when i go to my last DUI/DWAI class (yeah, i'm really excited about that!! I've been in these stupid classes for 3 months now, i really can't wait for Thursday to come so i can get this shit over with and never think about it again.)
I got really excited about the Barista classes they teach until i saw on their website that you have to bring your own grinder and espresso machine. :-(
Anyhow i'm babbling. So today i ventured out to Mile High Coffee to taste what our fearless leader tasted over the weekend. OH MY GOD!! Mile High Coffee is the shit!! I got an Avalanche, which is a white mocha (they use Ghirardelli chocolate, super yummy!) topped with caramel sauce. It was awesome! The espresso was the best i have ever tasted!
And the icing on the cake for me was seeing that they were using a La Marzocco espresso machine, which is one of THE BEST espresso machines you can buy for a cafe. I fell in love! Just the joy of finally for my first time getting to taste espresso out of a La Marzocco that i've read and have heard so much about was awesome for me! (I know i'm such a coffee geek, i've come to terms with that.)
The sleeve they put on my coffee was kind of cute too, it came attached with a packet of Trident gum. :) They also use my syrups i want to use, DaVinci Gormet syrups. Added bonus.
I'm so happy though that i heard about Bush visiting Mile High Coffee or i probably would of never discovered Mile High Buzz blog and all these local coffee houses so i can finally stop going to Starbucks.
Which in all honesty, i did like Starbucks a lot, they are the soul reason why i got into coffee so much, but trying other espresso that isn't Starbucks, they're really ripping people off by serving them so-so espresso. It's like buying a hamburger at a McDonalds when the hamburger doesn't even taste like real meat!
Mile High Coffee gets their coffee beans from another local coffee house, which i'll probably go to tomorrow and try, but it's called "Kaladi Brothers Coffee", this place roasts their own beans. So on payday i'll most likely be going and buying some beans from them. The Kaladi Brothers Coffee from what i have read from other people serve the best coffee in town. They also use a La Marzocco espresso machine too.
Ahh, so many coffee houses so little money :-( Going to all of these coffee houses has really just expanded my wish to own my own coffee house.
I think i'd do what Sisters Espresso did and do it out of an old house for that Amsterdam, cozy feeling instead of some building in a shopping area.
One step at time Cristal, first you gotta buy your grinder and espresso machine :)

A Little Support Please....
I have to have a short little rant here. My brother and I use to be real close, almost like best friends. But the past few years since i've moved out we haven't been as close. I always looked up to him, looked to him for support in all my ups and downs in life.
Now i'm really to the point where i don't want to tell him anything about my life and how i feel about things. Last night he came over to play games with Justin, and he was on the computer and saw my coffee podcasts and right away was like,"What the fuck?" and Justin told him that i want to be a professional barista, and just like every other thing i've decided to do with my life, he laughed at me and just criticized me. That's exactly why i didn't even want to tell him. It feels like everything i've decided to do with my life ever since i've been old enough to make decisions for myself, he's always disagreed with me and just laughed at me.
This really hurt me because this is something i've really been excited about and he took that and just squashed it like a bug.
I'm really at the point where when Justin invites Aaron over, i'm just gonna leave. I'm tired of my own brother criticizing me for everything i think and feel. Aaron has been real annoying lately and i feel like i'm constantly at odds with him, and he keeps just poking his nose into my life, and laughing at what he sees. Now i see why a lot of people think he's annoying and don't want to be around him.
